Not sure what else you would need for info, but it is all in the CPU-Z in my sig. In ACHI mode and boot priority is set to the SSD Intel i5 DDR4 Gskill Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. Listed on the website the version went from 1.A 7/25/16 (closest match to what is currently installed) to 7977v* and up. What is American megatrends and why is it not listed on the BIOS updates page for the MB? Can I download the latest update, even though the current BIOS version do not match anything on the website? I am basically wondering if the chances of bricking my MB are greater, because my current BIOS doesnt match what is on the website. I know the horror stories from BIOS updates, so I came here first.
The closest date listed on there is 7/25/16 and there has been about 7 BIOS updates since, with a few dealing with NVMe support and stability, so I was hoping a BIOS update would fix it. I cant find that listed on the support page for the MB. I checked my BIOS version and it says "American Megatrends ". It seems like the CPU is hitting 100% a lot more frequently now, than before, which could be causing it. This never happened with the 860, but for sure is happening now. I would be interested in your observations in this regard. I have an HP that I applied the Spectre fix BIOS update on and didn't encounter really much slowdown at all. The big issue now, is that it will stutter or lag when doing things. On the other hand, the new BIOS has resulted in my system being noticably slower. Here are my issues.īoot time was 12 seconds on the 860 and about 1 minute with the 970? Not sure why, I have disabled most startup items, only leaving the ones I really need and still only gets to about 45 seconds or so.
It seems to be a little slower than the 860 when doing usual stuff, but surpasses the 860 when doing large file transfers, which I love. Read and write speed seem to be good, in upwards of 3 gb/s, so no issues there. Shut down and removed 860 and booted with only the 970 installed.
I cloned my old 860evo SSD with OS and all. So I recently installed a samsung 970 evo NVMe m.2 drive into the lower m.2 slot, on my MB.
